Event recap: Taste of Atlanta

Something very exciting happened in October: I got to be a judge at my very favorite foodie festival in the city, Taste of Atlanta
Check out that judge badge!

I am so honored to have been asked to judge this year's event! I've been attending TOA religiously since moving back to Atlanta after graduation: The three-day festival showcases the best dishes of so many phenomenal restaurants from around the city. It's like getting a sneak peek into the most talked-about eateries in your favorite neighborhoods, sans all the driving around and searching for parking.
A gorgeous Saturday afternoon in midtown's Tech Square

Davio's prep station for their famous gnocchi bolognese (the best in town!)
TOA's VIP experience = all you can eat and drink (definitely worth the price!)
Bar Taco's street corn--authentically delicious!
Running into a few local celeb chefs, like Ron Eyester of Rosebud and "Top Chef" fame

The Delia Champion of Delia's Chicken Sausage Stand
As a judge, in addition to tasting a bevy of small plates from restaurants such as The Spence, No. 246, and Barcelona, I had the pleasure of sharing my feedback about each dish. Below are just a few of my favorites.
Article 14: Scallop in French roasted pumpkin puree + seeds. The right amount of fall flavor gives this classic seafood dish an unexpected but much welcomed twist. This won my vote (and TOA's) for Best Taste on Saturday.

Chai Pani: Kale pakoras, made with curried chickpea batter and served with green chutney + sweet yogurt.

Whole Foods Mobile Kitchen: Seasonal beet salad. The fresh dressing and the cheese crisps was a nice surprise.
Four Roses Bourbon: Spiced bourbon cocktail served in mini pumpkins! This got my vote for best drink.
Ink & Elm: Preserved Georgia shrimp with crispy chicken skin. The hard-boiled egg is an added bonus. Wowza!

Did you go to this year's event? How was your experience?
